Anti-cancer Foods

Some common foods that prevent cancer:

1. Garlic can kill bacteria and suppress the growth of cancerous cells.

2. Fungus, such as mushrooms, maitake and Ganoderma lucidum, is rich in polysaccharides that strengthen immunity and suppress the growth of cancerous cells.

3. Foods like fresh vegetables and fruits contain many antioxidants, such as vitamin A, C, E, selenium, zinc, carotene and lutein; for example:

    a) Carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato- rich in carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A, which can strengthen immunity and prevent cancer.

    b) Tomato and watermelon- rich in vitamin C and lycopene, effectively fortifying the immune system and preventing cancer.

    c) Broccoli, green pepper and dark green vegetables are rich in lutein, a type of anti-cancer antioxidant.

    d) Soybeans and black beans are rich in protein, lutein, and carotene, which help prevent cancer.

    e) Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and almonds contain unsaturated fat and vitamin E, suppressing tumor growth.

4. Other foods rich in antioxidants include: green tea, grape seed, barley, spirulina algae, etc.

Studies show that a high-fat, low-fiber diet increases risks of colon and breast cancer. An excessive consumption of oil and fat stimulates the secretion of estrogen, an accumulation of which increases the risks of breast cancer. Bile aids metabolizing fat, and a high-fat diet can overly stimulate the production of bile. When there is an excess of bile, some of it can enter the large intestine and produce a chemical reaction with the bacteria there, resulting in the formation of carcinogenic substances and increasing the risks of colon cancer. Fiber eliminates these substances from the body, and, thus, it helps prevent colon cancer.

Be sure to eat more fresh food and avoid foods that contain nitrites, such as foods that are smoked, pickled, or processed- like bacon, ham, spam, Chinese sausage, Chinese preserved duck, and salted fish. In addition, eating fresh fruits and vegetables and having bowel movements each day are also very important.
